BBC: (Tedros) was elected in May with a mandate to tackle perceived politicisation in the organisation.

One of Tedros's first acts in 'tackling politicization' was to appoint deranged Zimbabwe tyrant Robert Mugabe as a WHO goodwill ambassador.

Tedros: (Mugabe has made Zimbabwe) "a country that places universal health coverage and health promotion at the centre of its policies".

The decision attracted derision from human rights organizations:

Kenneth Roth, Human Rights Watch: When you go to Zimbabwean hospitals, they lack the most basic necessities. Mugabe's utter mismanagement of the economy has devastated health services".

Obert Gutu, Zimbabwe MDC party: The Zimbabwe health delivery system is in a shambolic state, it is an insult. Mugabe trashed our health delivery system... he allowed our public hospitals to collapse.

Another Goodwill Ambassador appointed under Tedros is Peng Liyuan - Xi Jinping's wife!

Ironically, as someone who supposedly got the top WHO job, with the backing of China, with "a mandate to tackle perceived politicization of WHO", the words ""persuasive" and "political" are (the ones that) crop up regularly when discussing his leadership of WHO."

In short the Tedros is a political charlatan with a particular affinity for dictators.

And yet here he is, leader of WHO, our expert of the experts. If we don't swallow every word he says we get yelled at and called conspiracy theorists.

But here are the take-away facts about Tedros:

1. He's been a long time cheerleader for Xi's Belt and Road Initiative.
2. Banned Taiwan from WHA observer status.
3. He lied about the severity of the Covid outbreak in the critical early days and suppressed reports from Chinese whistleblower doctors.
4. He advised against wearing masks, said there was no human to human transmission.
5. He praised the CCP to high heaven saying they were "open and transparent".
6. He covered up several cholera outbreaks in Ethiopia when he was Health Minister there.
7. He praised Mugabe and appointed him as WHO goodwill ambassador.
