This is just insane! I've read a number of times over the last few years that the so called Internet of Things (networked gadgets including cars, refrigerators, and vacuum cleaners) present a serious threat to security because they're being forced upon us without having gone through the same level of security testing that, say, your laptop or cellphone does; in other words, none.

And this is a perfect example of that... on steroids!

One of the most troubling aspects of this story that wasn't really explored is that the hacker got access to the network. I assume that means that they could access, or at least were a lot closer to gaining access, to everything on the network including your PC with its health records and bank statements.

But aside from that, the creepiness factor of this is off the charts. This thing could actually follow you around.
