Looking at the Boxing Day tsunami, it made it to Sri Lanka & India which is about 1200km away, & Thailand (about 1000km), then all the way to the east coast of Africa (5000+km), though not as such a destructive force. Still caused damage & 11 deaths in Tanzania, though.

You might be in the 5000km range.
They travel fast - read that it arrived in Thailand 2hrs after the earthquake - so that's 500kph.
which would mean it might take up to 10 hours to reach you.

Actually, they can travel faster, shallower water slows them down, apparently.
Only took 7 hrs to reach the coast of Africa.

Seems a lot of tsunami alerts getting cancelled now, even in Hawaii.
