As it turned out there was a significant cool period after the last heatwave, a few weeks or so that lasted through what is traditionally the most dangerous period - but it's back on again now with a late burst. Not in the 'catastrophic level' but nudging 40C, quite windy. Several fires are burning out of control and emergency warnings in place.
