US Debt (General)

Btw, Congrats/Bon Voyage with your life-switch to an island far, far out to sea! That's quite momentous ...

You're going to the right place to play out your Mud Pie thinking, slightly scaled up, coz there does appear to be only 9 Towns there. Is Guam P1?

Yes it is a momentous change! Never say never but we're never going to do another international move. I think this is at least the third time we've made that proclamation. Guam is a US territory, though you'd hardly know it if you try to get something mailed here from the US.

With regards to mud pies, a guy named Jeff Booth has some really interesting theories on deflation as it relates to technology, AI, and money. This interview also delves into Bitcoin throughout, which can't be printed. I agree with his premise though, which, to horribly oversimplify, is that real money is deflationary due to our ability as humans to use and improve technology and production.

For example, if we improve our technology and are able to create 20 mud pies instead of 10 in the same time, they should cost half as much, right? But, I think he argues, a financial system based on debt requires inflation and continual money printing.

The takeaway is that we have the technical ability as a species to basically be working very little at this point, with everyone on the planet housed, well fed, and spending most of the day at the beach (in our case).
