October2024Weather diary page Oct 4, Kanagawa: Heavy rain last night associated with stationary front. 22 at 9PM last night, 27 at 4:30AM. It felt oddly uncomfortable last night even in spite of the lower temperature. After seeing no cockroaches in the house all summer, we've been inundated in the last few days. Not sure why. Maybe somebody nearby sprayed and it's forcing them up through drains? The weather? Something else going on? Oct 8, Kanagawa: First major 'cold' front passing through. Low of 15 tonight and high of 18 tomorrow. Forecast for the coming two weeks does not see highs breaking mid to high 20s, yet that is still high for this time of year. Normal would be low 20s. Oct 13, Kanagawa: Finally a solid week of somewhat normal, seasonal weather. Still a few degrees above average, but nice. Drier with highs in the mid twenties. Cormorants are slowly arriving. Oct 27, NR: October has been cooler than Sep - even had the fire going a couple of times. Intermittent rain has continued throughout - no huge falls but enough to keep the water-table up. Trying to find a window to get a few more loads of road-base on the access road, but that's proving very difficult. Lightning storm a few nights ago. Wallabies have returned on a regular basis after a long absence. Saw grey goshawk recently around house - probably not after chooks but scared them half to death. Several were reluctant to come out from hiding places to go home.
