March2026

Weather diary page

Mar 10, Guam: We're socked in and have been for the last couple of days. Yesterday morning we had more rain than the average March total, March being the driest month normally but obviously not this year. We have two systems developing, 95W just to our west and 96W to the northeast. 95W has been tracking west but threatens to do a u-ey and come back to visit while 96W is just hanging out. In addtion to these symtoms, we have a shear line to our north which is interacting with them.

Mar 25, Guam: It's been a very wet 'dry' season. February was the wettest Feb in over 25 years, and March is on track to break the all time record set in 1971.

Mar 31, Northern Rivers: I'm reminded of my first year here seven years ago - frequent showers, but not too wet overall (falls between 5-10mm). There was a downpour on Fri 13, just as someone came for a house inspection (having failed to show up to the scheduled appointment the day before when the weather was perfect), but since then it's been fairly moderate. Ideal growing weather with a mix of rain & sunshine - you could literally plant & mulch your veggies then go back & harvest them in a couple of months time. At least we got through Feb & Mar without any major East Coast Lows, which is the main time they hit (including the big floods of '22). Have put 6 trailer loads of road-base into the depression in the backyard where water sits around in downpours as well as dug a couple of drains there in an attempt to remedy that problem, but haven't really had enough rain since to test it out. Hopefully, i never do. Temp dropped down to 9C around Mar 27, which is as cold as i've ever seen it in March. Since then it's returned to a pretty steady pattern of mid 20s down to 15-16C overnight.
