June2025Weather diary page June 3, Northern Rivers: It couldn't last forever, & didn't The May-yu returned at the end of May & has rained pretty much continually for 5 days & nights, including steady rain last night. Not super-heavy, but persistent. The water table popped straight back up - it's like the ground is made of plastic & whatever rain falls just sits on top of it. A bit disappointing at how little the table had drained with the 2 week dry patch. It took a full week for the puddles to subside, but just one day of light rain for them to re-emerge. I blame myself for looking at the forecast. Had a camper inquiry last week & although the camping is closed down, with the dry run i thought it might be possible, but thought i better check the forecast. Straight-away it was full of rain. I looked away in horror, but it was too late. Today is first sign of any blue in the sky since it started. Grey fantail has taken up residence around house. Interestingly, they make their nests out of spider webs, which is good, coz i'm plagued with spider web around the house. Pecan trees are pretty much fully denuded of leaves. Planted a couple of callistemon trees two days ago. June 6, GUAM! And THANK GOD FOR THAT! Retired in a sensible land where time is flexible, laws are fluid, the weather is warm, and the weed is legal. Today it's hanging out in the high 20's with some heavy rain in the morning to become scattered showers for the next few days, typical of the rainy season. Aside from a rare typhoon and earthquake, the weather here is very predictable so I'll be copying and pasting a lot on this weather wiki. June 14, NR: Congrats on the big move to Guam! Meanwhile, the Big Freeze has arrived in my neck of the woods - which is kinda good coz cold air is dry air here as a rule. Had the fire going most nights for the last two weeks - the last three nights have been 3C, 2, 2 with frosts each night - the first of the season. Days are still nice - sunny & around 20. Completed most of the mowing/brush cutting - took five petrol tanks on the brush-cutter - still need to do walking tracks on campsites. Back yard still hasn't dried out enough to mow without leaving black skid marks on the lawn & can't safely get down to south creek paddock, but all the rest is done. Hoping that it may be for the last time. Ravens are annoying me. After Blackie died, there were none for a while, but recently their last pair of children (that normally would be driven out) are trying to reclaim the territory. That involves calling loudly on the porch each morning for as long as they can until i get up & chase them off. June 25, Guam: Overcast, breezy, feels like 27 or so. Intermittent showers. Excellent weather. The sun here is hot when it's out but rainy season - summer - is cooler due to this activity. Copy and paste copy and paste. June 29, NR: Read a report of typhoon forming near Guam - welcoming you to the island? Guess some form close to there without usually impacting in a major way. June has been relatively dry, though the rain has returned from yesterday. Big rain (50mm) forecast for tomorrow - that will put us back to full-bog-up. Going out to do shopping today so i can stay off the access road. Had some sort of arthritis attack about a week ago that went for three days. No really cold nights after the initial burst. Campers reported seeing platypus in north east section of creek. |
