Weather diary page

Jan 02, Guam: Beautiful weather so far! The screenshot below says it all except for the nearly constant breeze we get. This is nothing like the dongbeifeng of Taitung, thankfully. It's more dong than bei. Wherever it's from, it makes for some very pleasant weather.

Jan 23, Northern Rivers: Looks like we're going to get through Dec-Jan without any major rain dumps, which is great. I'm always fearful of that first one coz even though the land appears to handle it, the water-table rises to the brink, then pretty much any follow-up rain is enough to bog things up. Temps have been a mixed bag alternating from mid-20s (today) to heatwave stuff (the next few days). Meanwhile, down south, it's really topsy-turvy - Melbourne is ranging from a low of 12 to a high of 42 in the space of a couple of days. Couple of weeks ago they had 43 & howling northerlies which set of major fires, then a freak storm that sent a dozen cars from a creek-side campground at Wye River out to sea. Second bloom of malaleukas in the last few weeks - not as strong as the first spring bloom but great for the resident honey-eaters. Several species appear during the spring bloom (crimson honey-eaters, friar-birds, finches, koels, fig birds), but they then move on when it's over - only the small brown honey-eater & Lewin's honey-eater seem to be residents. The small brown one loves the bird bath - swear it's the cleanest bird in the world - spends half the day taking a dip. I'm in sell-mode, so spending a lot of time mowing lawns. Caught/released another python in chook shed - getting rather good at it. Basically you just walk slowly up to them then grab them around the neck.
