February2025Weather diary page Feb 7, NR: Noticing that due to the valley aspect, the days actually get slightly longer (or at least stay the same) either side of the equinox. There's a sloping hill where the sun sets - at summer solstice the sun is towards the higher gradient of the hill. As it recedes, so does the gradient, meaning the days stay roughly the same in length for a good couple of months. Never really noticed it before - probably coz it was always fucking raining, so you couldn't see where the sun was setting - it was a moot point. Staying pretty dry - i barely dare type it - but the cycle will change at some point - i'm hoping it's this one. Hoping the endz-with-a-bang was the late Jan storm. Let the dry invade the wet ... & the wet invade the dry - somewhere in a land far, far away. Feb 24, Kanagawa: February has been cold and mostly clear. Way fewer cormorants than usual. Had 4.7 earthquake this morning, which isn't huge, but it happened right on a major fault so that's a bit concerning. Japan scientists are saying there's a 60-70% chance of a catastrophic quake along the Nankai Trough over the next 30 years. This could send a tsunami into Tokyo Bay. This quake today was on a fault that intersects with that trough, so not good. |
