Aug 1, Guam: Super typhoon Dolphin is passing north of us causing west winds and intermittent rain. Dolphin formed far east of us and thankfully took a northern turn, now heading towards Okinawa.

Aug 16, Northern Rivers:We had a rare week of fine weather, but unfortunately that's not enough. Rain returned yesterday & will continue for a week - that will put us back to square 1 or 2 again, depending on how heavy it is. In past winters i could drive down through south paddock to cut firewood from July, but that's still not possible so far this year. I don't know what's going on with the Super El Nino, but it's definitely not causing the dry weather/drought that was repeatedly forecast - quite the opposite so far.

Aug 17, Guam: Typical rainy season weather the last few days but a system just popped up out of nowhere SW of us and went from nothing this morning to a 'High' risk of developing into a storm in the next 24 hours. This is why Guam is in a permanent 'COR 4' status which means damaging winds are possible within 72 hours. Guam Typhoon Conditions. Aug 27, NR: Could it be that the rain has finally stopped? After a downpour a few nights ago, the rain has eased off & the outlook is dryish for the next week. The downpour was strange - middle of the night - didn't last long - but torrential - summer storm strength. Water was pooled in the backyard the next morning & has stayed like that for 2 days. At this stage it's like the ground is made of plastic - the water just sits around. Eruption of large parrots today - white cockatoos (which i hate - noisy destructive delinquents), corellas (fine), black cockatoos (fine). Luckily, it seems the black cockatoos also hate the white cockatoos, so happy to see them around. They may even succeed in driving them off to some extent - there's a territorial war going on. First time i saw black cockies come up so close to house today - normally they keep their distance. Corellas returned to use the birdbath for first time in a long time.
