April2026Weather diary page Apr 4, Northern Rivers: Same pattern has continued on from March - showers most days but quite moderate. Camping is still open for Easter (with full-house of bookings), though have restricted it to 4wd & closed South Creek sites due to boggy access across the back paddock. The outlook is quite dry, & i know i've said this before, but i do think this year, after 6 years of extreme wet, we going to cycle into a dry period similar to my first year here 7 years ago. Reports say an El Nino is forming, which is often a sign of dry conditions in Aus. In that case we could be in for a serious fire season in 26-27. Apr 12, NR: A week of dry weather & another week of it forecast. That's very unusual for April. In previous years i'd be moaning about the incessant rain by now. Yesterday was 32C, though it felt more like 30 due to lower humidity. Back to shorts n t-shirt in the evenings after being in trackpants mode for a few weeks. Was able to get the mower down to back paddock campsites - normally it would be too boggy to get down there at this time of year. Grass has slowed down - yesterday may have been last mow of the year - certainly will be for back paddock - house yards might need a tidy up due to house sale inspections, but the grass has gotten the signal to hibernate for winter. We did have that one cold night of 9C in Mar, but it's been around 30 for several days so maybe the signal comes from shortened daylight hours more than temp. |
