Praying for Rain (Weather)

Beggars can't be chooses, and even though summer has only just begun in earnest, this is almost the hardest, most desperate time. (a) you're still getting used to it, and (b) even though it feels like some freak weather heatwave event that will pass in a few days you know that there's another 10 unrelenting weeks of it in front of us. That's quite foreboding. There are no afternoon thunderstorms, no unexpected cool changes, cold fronts or anything. It's a cyclone or nothing.

So any faint glimmer of a low building that might affect us in any way, even cloud cover, is welcome. The chart below falls into that category. Once the low to the south of us gets west of ppe there is a chance it could kick up some rain our way, maybe sat night or sun.

And behind that, there does seem to be another sizeable low forming. Keep em coming.

Losing hope for that low pressure - no poleward outflow so hard to see how it will produce rain here unless something changes. Maybe the one behind it will give us something.

Edit: Just walked outside and noticed mammatus clouds forming to the south, then thunder and lightning about tonight - might still be a rough chance for tomorrow - little bit of poleward outflow from the low drifting up.

Meanwhile, in Kaohsiung, we had intermittent clouds yesterday, a bit of rain, and actual thunder in the afternoon. The best place to be this time of year is the west side of the mountains, or even in the foothills, where it rains almost every afternoon.

lucky you! nothing here. our last chance was a drift up from the low to the south of us and on sat it really looked like it might pour rain at any minute - but in the end, nothing more than a few drops. There's a huge typhoon out to sea but anything to the east of us rarely produces rain here - and that seems to be the case this time - massive waves though.

it's now over 3 weeks of full on summer without rain - not even any cloud cover - that's just cruel.
