In a somewhat related note, the following is a link to a story that appeared in the TT recently regarding citizen journalists demanding more rights to participate in political processes. http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2012/12/26/2003551026

The meeting consisted of a process where community representatives could speak for or against the hotel ('for' were granted 5 speakers, 'against' only 3)but then they adjourned to another room to 'make the decision' and no journalists, citizen or otherwise were allowed into see that charade.
