In Suzu, a coastal town of just over 5,000 households near the quake's epicentre, there may have been up to 1,000 houses destroyed, according to its mayor Masuhiro Izumiya
That will mean a lot of death, if that report is correct. It's 48 already - that's gonna go up significantly.
Trying to imagine what it was like for those drivers in the pic below. It was probably survivable for them, but must've been incredibly scary.
