Unusual for a cyclone to follow that path over such a long distance and not develop beyond a TS - normally you could expect a monster storm

Sustained wind predicted to reach 60kts around landfall - though worth watching for intensification and/or rainfall

Bailu has made landfall south of Taitung city and is impacting the eastern half of the state

Biggest falls so far have have been in Fuli, Hualien approaching 500 mm for the day

Jinfeng township Taitung is currently getting hammered to the tune of 100 mil an hour. That's destructive level

Interestingly the rift valley seems to be getting more rain than the coast of Taitung - or anywhere - though the coast is getting a lot too

The tail of the system is getting dragged directly across southern Taiwan - which is potentially disastrous - especially if it slows down at all - already in landslide territory with the rainfall totals - looks like a lot more to come

CWB rightly has an "extremely torrential" rain warning for south Taiwan - "extremely torrential" sounds like a grammar error - unless you've seen the kind of rain they have in Taiwan

This is when a divergence in it's predicted straight shooter path would be problematic. Assuming it just heads on through, damage will be limited. It must be quite a show on the peninsula though.
