Another 'unprecedented' story - with possible 'tipping point' connotations - 100 000 hectares of fires burning in the arctic regions - some of which involve the underlying peat having caught fire.

"In June alone, the WMO said, Arctic fires emitted 50 megatonnes of CO2, equal to Sweden’s total annual emissions."
