Emerging Storm SE Taiwan (Weather)
Looks like another pop-up job off the coast of Taidong - unlikely to develop beyond a TP though can still dump some serious rain
Interestingly, it’s not marked on the charts even as a low pressure at this point

Still building - dumped 300+ mil in Pingtung and affecting Taidong as well
Still hasn't been marked as a Low - if it's not a Low Pressure I can't think what else it would be
Looks to be moving up the east coast
Here's a sat image of this thing that's not even a Low, supposedly
Has persisted for 24 hours - certainly holding it together - maybe consolidating - meanwhile dropping a lot of rain
Could be worth watching as a trend - theoretically, with rising sea surface temps, wouldn't the breeding ground for typhoons be slightly further away from the equator?
Then there's the Coriolis effect to consider, not sure if there's an optimum zone away from the equator or further away the better
This may stay off shore - but hang onto your hats if it doesn't - from the radar looks like an awful lot of rain in it
Southern Taiwan, and Pingtung and Kaohsiung Counties especially, are in for it.
