Lan is a disaster looking for a place to happen
From a purely selfish perspective, the good news is that there's a rare total accordance amongst the models and they have it going due north

Typhoon Lan is making landfall in central Japan. The usual scenario is that typhoons will be petering out by the time they reach Japan but Lan looks to be retaining significant punch even though it has dropped off from its super typhoon status
Good news is that it is travelling at 40kph so it will pass through quite quickly
Yep, and I know from recent experience that when a typhoon hits an area that hasn't been hit by a typhoon in many years, lots of things break. Lots of trees come down.

Lan did have a serious impact in Japan with max winds up to 178 kph and rainfall up to 800mm
7 deaths and extensive flooding and landslides
