Only Solutions Beach Clean-Up Event (General)

by dulan drift ⌂, Saturday, June 04, 2016, 11:01 (3096 days ago)

Concerned local residents of the Dulan area, recently formed a group called Only Solutions in response to the tide of trash on our beaches.

The goal is: Find a Solution!

We don't just want to be free garbage collectors!

We want the Taidong Council to take a break from doing corrupt land deals and assume their responsibility for keeping the beaches clean

We are also focussing on Education. We have arranged to deliver presentations in schools and we see the Beach Clean-Up as an opportunity to take immediate action - coz we are sick of the sight of it - but more importantly to open people's eyes to the problem and think of solutions.

Local businesses are offering generous discounts for all participants, so come along, have fun with a range of beach activities, and help Keep Dulan Beautiful and contribute your ideas to finding a solution!

Trash cans! That's got to be part of the solution. Trash cans at all beach access points, where people park that is. Not only would this help solve the problem, but it would employ people in meaningful work and be a good use of taxpayer money for a change.

Yep! Give the guy a cigar!

Trash cans. At least give people a reasonable chance to act responsibly.

We have installed our own and we service them, and of course everyone loves us, especially the Taidong Council, but they don't want to actually do anything to help!

FYI: http://www.guampdn.com/story/news/2016/06/17/tash--cash-program-cleans-guam-helps-nonpr...

"At the Islandwide Beautification Task Force, we offer several day-to-day projects to help beautify our island. Our goal each day is to get closer to a cleaner, greener, more vibrant Guam. One of the programs I want to highlight in particular is our Adahi I Tano’ program. Adahi I Tano’ is a “trash-for-cash” program coordinated in partnership with the Matson Foundation that caters to nonprofit organizations."

Yeah, it was a pretty good day - if 'lots of trash' counts as good. In some ways trash seems like a humble problem, but it actually is a huge world-wide phenomenon that connects to the core of modern life and the consumption.
