With Covid or due to? (General)

Danish newspaper, Ekstra Bladet, has apologized for participating in spreading misinformation about Covid hospitalization/death numbers.

Editorial: For almost two years, we – the press and the public – have been mesmerized by the daily covid reports from the authorities…We rashly reported about covid-infections, hospitalisations, and covid-related fatalities without checking.

We have reported on the smallest changes in the Covid story based on what the experts, politicians and authorities told us…

(T)he press – must also take stock of our own efforts. And we have failed you.

We were not vigilant enough when the authorities told us that people were in hospital ‘with’ Covid and not because of Covid. Because it makes a difference. A big difference.

The only news in this story is that it's the first media outlet in the world to admit they've been collaborating with health experts to spread misinformation since Covid began. They forgot to mention they've also spread whoppers about the origin of Covid - maybe that's still too big - but at least it's a start.

It's interesting that this 'with' or 'due to' distinction is suddenly being made now. We can deduce that it's due to vaccine failure - so it's a statistical lever to get the numbers down - to make it look like vaccines are still working - when they're not.

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard: (Up to half of cases hospitalized) are actually people with other reasons for admission.

Fauci: If you look at the children [who] are hospitalised, many of them are hospitalised with Covid as opposed to because of Covid.

What we mean by that is that if a child goes in the hospital they automatically get tested for Covid and they get counted as a Covid hospitalised individual, when in fact they may go in for a broken leg or appendicitis or something like that. So it’s over-counting the number of children who are ‘hospitalised’ with Covid as opposed to because of Covid.

So who's fault was that? Why are you suddenly admitting this now?

Ontario chief medical officer Dr Kieran Moore: Many individuals have noted the importance of distinguishing between patients admitted to hospital or the ICU for Covid-19, versus those admitted for other reasons such as a broken bone or appendicitis, but also test positive for Covid-19. As a result, we have asked hospitals to update their daily reporting to include this important information and expect to begin receiving it, as well as adjusting our public reporting, in the coming days.

In a time where we're constantly exhorted to listen to the experts, we've seen lie, upon lie, upon lie from these same experts. It's hard to think of single topic on which they've been honest.

Then they complain about a growing mistrust in health experts and blame it on 'far-right-wing conspiracy theorists spreading misinformation'.
