Yeah, it’s made my ‘news’ as well - my train out of Tainan has been cancelled

Many places in Tainan well over 700 mil in last two days - pushing 800 in several areas

450 mil for Kaohsiung which is nothing to be sneezed at

Seems to be moving up the northwest coast - windy has it circulating around the whole island - which should help sustain it

Yep, that area gets that sort of 'surprise' storm quite often.

It's not listed as a typhoon but I can report that it definitely is one - just formed off the south west coast of Taiwan - affecting Pingtung, Kaohsiung, and Tainan - which is where I am.

Shaping up as a major 'zao gao' situation as no day off was called but conditions are quite intense

Big rain, big wind - it's good to enjoy a typhoon from the safety of a concrete hotel though not ideal for sightseeing

80-90 mil per hour in Kaohsiung over the last several hours
