Another 5+M, then a 6.3 for Lombok today - that's 3 x 6M in a period of a few weeks - plus a bunch of 5s - poor people must be at their wits' end

It's more like the Hollywood movie where the truck gradually slips over the edge in a series of lurching falls and snags - the hero escaping just before the big one

I wonder how they came up with this term 'aftershock'. What does that mean? I always envisioned it as some sort of reverberating energy, but that makes no sense. I've always thought of 'aftershocks' as some echo of the original event that somehow, coming out of nowhere, can topple buildings, when in fact what they are are just additional earthquakes.

So, yeah, I'd be worried that the big one has yet to hit.

A 6.2 'aftershock' in Lombok - that would re-freak everyone out just when you'd be hoping the worst had passed

Yeah, that would have been bloody scary

Another 3 x 5+Ms overnight - that's not gonna help settle your nerves if you didn't get off the island

Even at that 5M level it's enough to topple a weakened building

I can imagine that it's not much fun to wait in the hot son on a beach with 1000 other people waiting to get rescued, all the while wondering if the big one is yet to hit and whether it will cause a tsunami.

With a couple of nearby volcanoes going off as well - you'd be wondering if the world was ending if you lived there
