Anak Krakatau (General)

Been following this but no time to post during Christmas festivities

Same time of year but new kind of tsunami for Indonesia - this time slabs of underwater mountain sides collapsing into the sea due to a volcanic eruption - seems the waves came without warning - no major earthquake to signal it

Some reports suggest it was 'just clearing it's throat' and that there is likely more to come

Yeah the fact that it could happen again at any time has got to be nerve wracking. I mean, I guess we're always living in that state with regards to earthquakes and tsunamis, but it appears the risk of it happening again in the near future is pretty high. I'd pack it in and move to higher ground for the next few hundred years until that volcano calms down.

I've been somewhat more aware lately of the tsunami risk in the area we're in now. This area was hit by the 2011 tsunami. We're near the beach quite often and normally, of course, I don't even think about it, but sometimes it hits me that it could very well happen any moment. We also eat a lot of fish, and I sort of wonder how radioactive it is. Doesn't matter. I love fish and there's evidence that chronic exposure to low level radiation significantly reduces one's cancer risk.
